Quick poll about tha damn long book

Ladies:

I have an idea, but if you don't like it, I won't be offended.

Does anyone think we should split this monster of a book into two book club discussions? Discuss, say, pages 1 through 400 at our Christmas book club and then the rest of the tome at the January meeting??

On the upside, it would give us all more time because at this rate, NO ONE is gonna be done by Dec. 10. On the downside, that book will be in our lives for another month.

Let's discuss the pros and cons here. Leave a comment with your vote.

Since I haven't even started reading it discussing it over two meetings would be fine.

Two meetings is fine with me.

Two meetings is fine with me, too. I just picked the book up today. Doh!

Sounds good to me. Maybe this way I'll actually be inspired to begin the tome.

I love the book, but I'm only 125 pages in. Splitting discussion over two months works for me. Sounds like fun, actually.

Absolutely over two. Like Jaime, I might just be inspired enough to start it.

I fall asleep every single time I've started to read this book. I like it though.
Yes, two meeting would be great.

I'm going against the grain and voting for one meeting. But I believe in democracy, so however the votes shake out is fine with me.

Two meetings. I just started a new job and I can't commit to 900 pages by Dec. 10.

900 pages? Dang. I haven't even bought it yet. Whatever everyone else wants to do.

if we spread this book over two meetings, will everyone actually finish it???

no. so why drag it out?

we can talk about the parts of the book that the majority have gotten to...

My other thought: if we read this book in two segments (which is find with me), then let's read thru book 4. That's 436 pages, but at least there's a real break in the book

What was the decision about said book? (I must confess that this may be my first time ever that I haven't cracked the current club read.)
